TAIPEI, TAIWAN. In early September, the Micron team in Taiwan, collaborating with the Cake talent platform, hosted an engaging virtual talk sharing about its recruitment process along with the company culture, looking forward to attracting talent overseas, with a focus on recruiting in Vietnam. The event featured a distinguished panel of guest speakers— Mr Siddartha Kondoju, Director of OMT PMO Strategic Cost Management, Ms June Nguyen, PEE Process Wet Engineer and Ms. Daphne L., Talent Acquisition Recruiter at Micron. With the participation of 100+ talent, the speakers shared valuable insights about Micron’s mission, values, and job opportunities while also offering practical tips for international talent interested in working in Taiwan.
Micron, a pioneer in the semiconductor industry, began its story back in 1978 as a four-person company in the basement of a Boise, Idaho dental office. It now has manufacturing sites in many regions, including Manassas (USA), Xi’an (China), Hiroshima (Japan), Taichung and Taoyuan (Taiwan), Muar and Penang (Malaysia), Gujarat (India), and Singapore (Singapore).
Their journey has been marked by brilliant advancements in memory and storage solutions. “Micron has achieved 57,000+ patents,” proudly shared Kondoju. “Our key to success is cross-border diversity as we are actively sharing our domain expertise with 48,000+ team members spanning across the globe.” He also emphasized Micron’s commitment to sustainability and being a green company. “Taiwan has strict regulations and compliance when it comes to producing anything affecting the environment,” he said.
During the webinar, Ms June Nguyen, a current engineer at Micron, also shared her personal experience and story of working there. Originating from Vietnam, June discussed all the pros and cons of moving to and working in Taiwan, providing a more subjective perspective to the participants. Some of the pros include a low-cost and high-quality healthcare system (NHI), a great education system with many scholarships available to international students, etc. She also strongly recommended the enthusiasts learn Mandarin if they want to live and work in Taiwan.
In addition, June mentioned her experience working at Micron. "I cannot count how many times I have participated in team-building activities over the past months," June enthusiastically shared." Furthermore, Kondoju also happily mentioned the relocation policy, which permits Micron employees to relocate with their families.
At the end of the webinar, Daphne provided details about Micron’s recruitment process, highlighting the wide range of roles available (Test / Process / Equipment / Facility / Integration / EHS Engineers, for more details, please visit Micron’s job page). She also encouraged the participants to try out different roles, as Micron is also open to hiring candidates from non-engineering backgrounds, including HR and sales.
Micron offers various internship opportunities annually, particularly during the summer months (August and September), which is a great starting point for fresh graduates. Students can visit Micron's company website for further information and updates. Micron Taiwan will also visit Vietnam in mid-Dec this year for recruitment events! Stay tuned!
